Mission Statement
Mission, Vision and Purpose
As a Professional Learning Community, César E. Chávez High School is a school where learning and academic achievement are fostered, recognized, and celebrated. This mission has been discerned as CCHS has continues to achieve award-wining academic success. CCHS has a concise and well-defined mission, vision and purpose which reflect the school and community’s commitment to success for all students. The mission statement is reviewed annually by the School Site Council and can be changed as the school's needs also change. It is the goals set forth in our mission statement that guide and direct all decisions for the students of the César E. Chávez High School community.
The mission of CCCHS is to “Provide a clean, safe, and orderly environment which will foster maximum academic achievement, technological skills, social awareness, and personal growth.”
The purpose of CCHS is to “Promote academic, athletic, and artistic achievement, provide superior technical and vocational opportunities, and prepare tomorrow’s leaders to be college and career ready.”
The vision of Delano Joint Union High School District (DJUHSD) and CCHS is for students to experience daily academic success through superior standards-based instruction. All teachers and staff are personally committed to creating a positive atmosphere of collaboration that promotes teaching and learning, a safe school environment, and comparable resources for all students.
School Motto
The school motto of CCHS is "A school where academic achievement is fostered, recognized, and celebrated."
The following are some of the ways our school recognizes and celebrates our Titans throughout the year.
Salute To Scholars
The Salute to Scholars Night is a tribute to all honor roll recipients form the 2nd semester of the previous year and the 1st semester of the current year. The Salute to Scholars Night is held annually in the spring in the CCHS Auditorium. Students are honored by receiving awards for the following grade point average (gpa) categories:
- GPA 4.0 Superintendent's Honor Roll
- GPA 3.5-3.99 Principal's Honor Roll
- GPA 3.0-3.49 Honor Roll
Titan Key to Success (Student of the Month) Awards
The Titan Key to Success Awards program is meant to promote success in and out of the classroom. Teachers on a monthly basis selects one student who has exemplified the Titan Qualities targeted for that month. Students are then recognized by a personal postcard sent home to parents and family and a Student of the Month t-shirt and certificate where they are recognized amongst peers in the classroom where they received the honor.

Exemplary Titans
Teachers, Administrators, and staff can recognize students who display any positive character attributes. Exemplary Titan students will be placed into a drawing to receive prizes including an Exemplary Titan Shirt.
- School Community Service: Showing leadership, extra/co-curricular work, assisting CCHS projects, helping the community and athletic events
- Citizenship: Helping in the classroom and following school/community policies
- Peer Assistance: Reporting bullying, helping with homework, tutoring, mentoring
- Campus Beautification: Picking up trash, helping keep school clean
- Character: Displaying honesty, integrity, kindness, caring, trustworthiness
Titans of the Year
The Titan of the Year award is designed to recognize an outstanding high school student, teacher, and classified staff member. This award is an excellent opportunity to recognize the recipients who have demonstrated excellent academic achievement, leadership ability, and citizenship. The Titans of the Year recipients are recognized with the Titan Triad recognition at the Salute to Scholars night in the spring of each year.
Department Outstanding Student Award
Each year the academic departments choose one student from their department that demonstrates academic achievement in that subject. The department Outstanding Student recipient is recognized by a representative from the academic department at the annual Salute to Scholars Night in the spring.
Titan Appreciation Day
An annual tradition that celebrates all Titans. We come together as a school community to celebrate the incredible achievements of our students and staff and recognize the strength and spirit that make our school truly exceptional.
